How do I reset the gateway or restore it to factory settings?
The problem
The gateway is no longer reachable, no longer connects to WiFi, or needs to be paired again to a different network. In that case, a factory reset can help.
After a reset, all network settings are cleared and the gateway must be configured again.
When is a reset needed?
A reset is useful in situations such as:
- the gateway is no longer reachable via the dashboard or the web interface
- the gateway no longer connects after changing the network name or password
- the gateway needs to be paired with another WiFi network
- WiFi settings are stored incorrectly or have gotten stuck
What do you need?
- the gateway
- an external USB power supply (separate from the meter’s P1 port)
- a USB cable
Solution: Step by step
Step 1: Disconnect the gateway from the meter
Remove both the P1 cable and the USB cable from the gateway.
Step 2: Connect the gateway to external USB power
Connect the gateway to an external USB power supply (so, not via the P1 port). Do not press the reset button yet.
Step 3: Wait for the blinking pattern
Once the gateway has started up, the blue LED will blink 4 times.
Step 4: Press the reset button while blinking
While the LED is blinking, press the reset button and hold it until the blue LED blinks 5 times quickly.
Step 5: Release the reset button
Release the button as soon as the fast blinking pattern becomes visible.
Step 6: Wait for the gateway to reboot
The gateway is now reset. After about 20 seconds, the gateway will automatically broadcast its own SSID (WiFi network) again.
✅ Do you see the gateway’s SSID appear again in your WiFi overview? Then the reset was successful.
After the reset: reconfigure the gateway
- connect your phone, tablet, or laptop to the gateway’s SSID
- follow the configuration steps to pair the gateway again with your own WiFi network
- after configuring, reconnect the P1 cable (and, if necessary, the USB power supply) as you did during the first installation
What if it doesn’t work?
Check the following if the reset does not work:
- Are you truly using an external USB power supply, not power via the P1 port?
- Are you pressing the reset button only after the LED has blinked 4 times, and not earlier?
- Are you holding the button long enough, until the LED blinks 5 times quickly?
- After releasing the button, did you wait at least 20 seconds before searching for a new SSID?
- Is the gateway close enough to your WiFi device to see the new SSID?
