Are you experiencing issues with flickering LED lighting or LEDs that don’t fully turn off? Our LED dimmer bypass provides the solution. With easy installation, this dimmer bypass resolves these issues, while also ensuring smoother dimming with the dimmer.

Why does the lighting flicker or not fully turn off after installing a dimmer?

A LED dimmer bypass, also known as a LED bypass or LED capacitor, is sometimes needed when dimming dimmable LED bulbs. This is due to the way LED bulbs operate and how dimmers are traditionally designed for dimming incandescent or halogen bulbs.

LED bulbs operate based on electronics and have a built-in power supply to convert electricity to the correct voltage for the LEDs. This power supply can be sensitive to the fluctuations in current that occur during dimming. Traditional dimmers for incandescent and halogen bulbs use a phase-cut or phase-trailing technique to adjust the light level. In these techniques, a portion of the electrical current is cut off to dim the light.

The problem arises when the minimum current cut off by the dimmer is too high for the electronic power supply in the LED bulb. This can result in flickering light, blinking lamps, or poor dimming performance. To solve this problem, a LED dimmer bypass is used.

A LED dimmer bypass is an electronic component that is connected in parallel to the LED bulb. It acts as a load to maintain a minimum current, even when the dimmer dims down the current. This allows the LED bulb to operate stably and prevents flickering and blinking.

Not all dimmable LED bulbs require a LED dimmer bypass. It depends on the specific LED bulb and its compatibility with the dimmer. Some manufacturers offer LED bulbs that already have a built-in bypass, eliminating the need for an external bypass. It is always advisable to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when dimming LED lighting and to install a LED dimmer bypass if necessary.
